Dark Elf-chan by WindoftheStars Dark Elf-chan by WindoftheStars
Oooooo new Pirotess photos!? No way!
That and I wanted to update with something new. ^^

In the last month I have been working on getting this costume to place where I want it to be. During AX, I really felt the costume was unfinished and it needed a lot more work. Since then I have added more embroidery to the front, shortened the necklace, and extended the sleeve openings more and embroidered the edges to those as well.

Finally, I wanted to at least TRY to make myself darker. Pirotess is a dark elf-chan and I'm a very very white person. So much in fact I look at pictures from AX of Pirotess and it is hard to see where the costume begins and end! Tooooo much white. I was lucky enough to find a product darkened me up nicely and that I was able to wash off at the end of the day.

Anyways, enough of bibble babble. Enjoy.

Costume made and modeled by me.
Pirotess belongs to Ryo Mizuno of course.

Your dedication ot the character definitely shows through. Well done overall work, also by using the shadows to make yourself darker. Dark or not, you make a fine Tess. :)

Wow this is awesome!! I'm making a priotess costume myself, what material did you use for the belts and the circlet and the costume itself for that matter. I have yet to decide on what exactly I'm going to use.. any advice as a veteran costume maker?

Oh wow thank you! Actually I used a varity of vinyls (pleaters) to make this costume. It was a pain but I wanted to match my Ashram who used black vinyl to make his armor. Good luck!

Thanks! The necklace thing was pretty easy. My armband, believe it or not, was something I bought when I was back in middle school! I was lucky enough to find at my Dad's place and I just painted it to match. Though if you had to make one it wouldn't be that hard to make it out of some medium gage wire. For the darkening, I used spray on nylons in a medium - dark tan tone. It's quite cool as it doesn't really come off in my clothes or anything but still washes off at the end of the day.

That's such a beautiful shot! Nice job, once again, on the costume.

BTW...may I ask which product you used to darken your skin? I plan to cosplay as Princess Jasmine sometime soon, but I need some kind of tanner b/c I am also teh white. :D

Aww thanks hun.

Sure. I used Spray on Nylons. I used, specfically, Sally Hansen's air brush leggs. While their product is rather good (aside from getting everywhere while spraying on so do it in the tub!) the can clogs VERY EASILY. I had to take caps off of other cans so I could continue and I eventually just got some in a cup and brushed it on with a foundation brush. Long story short, look for a better brand that hoepfully won't have a cheap nozzle.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I didn't want to use those tanning lotions, b/c I hear that they can turn out looking orange and streaky. Anyway, I simply cannot be a Caucasian Jasmine ^^;, so I'll have to look into some brands.

No prob. Yeah that's true to. I just didn't want to be tan for month or however long it lasts with the self tanner, especially if I'm doing this for a con. Someone told me that Macey's sells a good brand. I also found one online that is suppose to be good to. I would say some trial and error is in order. Though, that stuff can get pricey... >.< Goo Luck! Princess Jasmine is one of my FAV Disney characters!

That's why you sell them on Ebay or make 'em special order. :) If people saw your work I'm sure you could sell them!Of course... I'm sure to put as much detail into them as you do... it would take a while to make one or two... plus, I'm not sure how you feel about selling them. I know if I put a lot of effort into something I'd have a hard time parting with it... :) But anyways... as always youhave done an awesome job! Kudos!!

I thought about selling costumes, but really I would be loosing money. I would have to sell them for so much to gain back the money and time I put into just one costume. It isn't uncommon for me to put anywhere between $100-$200 into supplies alone. Plus, like you said it will be hard to part with them. ;__; Lately I have been trying to sell small cosplay things on e-bay and that has been going well. Ehh maybe one day I'll take full on commissions!
